Contemporary side tables are both functional and aesthetics-boosters. We selected some contemporary furniture by Baker Furniture to inspire you. A well designed modern side table will help create a cozy room atmosphere.
RADIANT DRUM TABLE
The interior designer Thomas Pheasant provides a versatile round side table with a genuinely original design motif. The shape is simply elegant, and it floats easily in rooms inspired by almost any period or style. Drawn from antiquity, the hourglass form is a symbolic meeting of past and present.
The top casts an extra, and moving, shadow over the body of the table. With tapered rays of varying length and width, the relief is a sunburst pattern in a cast resin chosen for both its ability to support complex hand finishes and manageable weight. The design was inspired by the mosaic floors at St. Mark’s Basilica. The leaf finishes have a boutique patchwork look on top, and bring light and detail to the radiant motif.
STRATUM ACCENT TABLE
This square side table has interecting planes meet at a precise point with hints of brass creating visual harmony. The dynamic presence is enhanced by thoughtfully tapered legs that allow for this table to be visually light yet grounded.
TIC TAC DRINK TABLE
Thomas Pheasant conceived the Tic Tac Table as a whimsical play on positive and negative space. A simple grid starts and stops in an irregular rhythm, and the unexpected placement of the members changes the view as we circle the table. The resulting spiral motion, the leap from one level to the next, is symbolic of how our destinies interact. The Tic Tac is a piece of modern jewelry that just happens to be a table.
This modern side table was made by an atelier in Italy, on a street with neither a sign nor a name, requiring more than 300 brass parts, and assembled by hand, some things quietly honor the practice of the old world and the promise of the new.
BLADE SINGLE TABLE
Sometimes the simplest of designs of contemporary furniture are the most intriguing. The carefully crafted brass frames a floating panel of artisan glass. The thoughtful, placement of the metal legs offers visual balance and interest at the perfect scale to sit beside a sofa. Craftmanship is decidedly the heart of interior design.
RAY DRINK TABLE
Like a shining star, the brass lines of this modern side table stretch outwards from a central point. The asymmetrical metal planes have an almost organic presence creating a unique and interesting view from every angle akin to a Richard Serra sculpture.
SHIELD DRINK TABLE
This contemporary side table is reminiscent of a study in geometry and balance. A heavy shield and thin rod support a white onyx top that appears to float from the frame. It is available in a chocolate metal base with your choice of a blackened nickel or polished brass shield and a Yucatan winter sky inspired white onyx top.
STACK COCKTAIL TABLE
The Stack Side Table suggests that modern design furniture makers often are sculptors. With a standard size and finish, Baker can make use of simple tools and established processes. The resulting rods are very much the same, still hand assembled, one table at a time. Now, more of us can appreciate everything from the clear glass top to play of light and shadow to the fiddle string texture of the rods. The difference between versatility and luxury is only a matter of time.
Selecting contemporary side tables is a wonderful way of creating a conversation between different furniture pieces within a room. They are necessary now. What do you think about these modern side tables?
